Q: What is the Dixon Studio Tour?

A: Dixon Studio Tour is the longest running studio tour in New Mexico. Dixon residents started the tour over 40 years ago to welcome visitors to Dixon and to support local artists. Today, there are over 40 stops on the Tour! Tour visitors come from all over to visit the Dixon area, meet local artists, and support the arts. 

Q: When is the Dixon Studio Tour?

A: The Dixon Studio Tour happens every year during the first weekend in November. 

Q: What type of artists can be included in the Tour?

A: The Dixon Studio Tour always welcomes new artists to join the Tour. Artwork must be original, made by the artist, and high quality. Artists on the tour include painters, photographers, sculptors, potters, weavers, quilters, stained-glass artists, glass artists, printers, collage artists, dried-flower artists, and more!

Artwork that is mass-produced with the use of commercial kits or molds, prefabricated forms, or imported items are not eligible.

Q: Do I have to live in Dixon to join the tour?

A: To join the Dixon Studio Tour, artists must live in the Dixon, New Mexico area. This area includes the communities of Apodaca, Cañoncito, Dixon, Cuestacitas, Rinconada, and Embudo.

Q: What is the cost to join the Tour?

A: For first time emerging artists, the cost is $75. For returning artists, and first-time professional artists, the cost is $150. 

Q: What does “emerging artist” mean?

A: An emerging artist is a person who has not yet shown their work at the Dixon Studio Tour and has not yet made significant income from selling their art.

Q: Who organizes the Dixon Studio Tour?

A: We do! We are the artists who are on the Tour and each of us volunteers to make the Tour a success. When you apply, you will be asked to select the type of volunteer job you’d like to do. Since it’s your first time, other volunteers will help you to understand how to do your job. Don’t worry — each job is small, but every job is essential to the making the Tour a success. 

Q: How do I apply?

A: For the 2024 Dixon Studio Tour, the application will be available on the Dixon Studio Tour website beginning May 17, 2024. 

Q: What is the application deadline?

A: The application must be completed by June 19, 2024. The application may be completed online or on paper. For a paper version of the application, please contact us here .
